Kannur, May 8: A Communist Party of India (Marxist)- CPM worker was allegedly murdered on late Monday evening by the activists of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at Palloor near Kannur in Kerela. Just hours after, an RSS worker was attacked and died due to his injuries in what looks like a retaliatory attack by the left party.

"Brutal murder of K Babu, a former councillor and an active member of the party, by the RSS activists shows that they (RSS) are in no mood to end the politics of violence that they have been carrying out", said the Kannur unit of the CPM, in a press statement issued today.

"There was an RSS camp that was going on Kuthuparampu and this incident occurred after it got over. Babu also came under attack in 2017. To protest this murder, the CPM has called for a shutdown in Kannur and Mahe," it further added.

Soon after the CPM worker killing, RSS worker Parambathu Shanoj was attacked near New Mahe. The victim Shanoj, an auto driver, was rushed to a hospital near Kannur, where he later succumbed to injuries and was declared dead.

The police in the area has launched a manhunt and is taking all precautionary measures to ensure that the situation doesn't deteriorate further.
