CPIM Announces Poll Manifesto for Lok Sabha Elections 2019, Promises Freedom From Injustice, Discrimination and Inequality
Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections’ First Phase, CPIM announced poll manifesto and promised freedom from injustice, discrimination and inequality
New Delhi, March 28: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Thursday released their poll manifesto stating that the Left party would focus on providing freedom from all sorts of injustice, discrimination and inequality prevailing in the country right now. Also, the CPI(M) also promised that it would raise the statutory minimum wages of the workers to Rs 18,000 per month and link all wages with the Consumer Price Index to control inflation.
Among other issues which CPI(M) or CPM announced include concrete measures to fight the current high levels of unemployment, comprehensive laws against communal violence and lynching, raise the public expenditure in education to at least 6 per cent of GDP, making free healthcare a basic right, strengthen the Universal Public Distribution System, support one-third reservation for women in Indian Parliament & all of Indian states, reformation of the electoral system by introduction of proportional representation, and others. Also, CPM in its manifesto stated to raise corporate taxes and restoration of wealth tax and long term capital gains tax. It also proposes to introduce inheritance tax, reservation in jobs and education in private sector for SCs and STs, make right to work as a Constitutional right and halt the privatisation of public sector enterprises and roll back privatisation in defence, energy and railways and basic services.

The Lok Sabha Elections for 543 parliamentary seats will take place in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. The results would be announced on May 23.
