'Cow Express' to be Launched by Shivraj Singh Chouhan Government in Madhya Pradesh For Ailing Bovines

Bhopal, October 3: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced to launch a 'cow express' that will carry ailing bovines in the state. The proposed 'cow express' will have a vehicle, a doctor and an attendant that will provide quick medical facility to bovines. A helpline number - 1962 - will be launched for those who will be needing this facility.
The 'cow express' will be launched in all districts of Madhya Pradesh, according to the government. This came days after the chief minister announced to establish a Gau Mantralaya (cow ministry) in the state for protection and welfare of cows. He had said that the Cow Protection Board had been working under restrictions. SC/ST Act Won't Be Misused, No Arrest Without Investigation in Madhya Pradesh: Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
"I have reason to believe that the Cow Protection Board in the state should be turned into a full-fledged ministry," Chouhan said. "The cow ministry will replace the existing Madhya Pradesh Gaupalan Evam Pashudhan Samvardhan Board because it has limitations. If an independent ministry is created there will be a better inflow of finances," the chief minister added.
His announcements come in the run-up to the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections. Earlier in June, Swami Akhileshwaranand, who was elevated from the post of Chairman of the state’s cow protection board to the rank of a cabinet minister in the Madhya Pradesh government, had appealed to Chouhan for the formation of a cow ministry.
In Madhya Pradesh, the ruling BJP is expected to get a tough electoral fight from a resurgent Congress amid likely anti-incumbency. The Congress has promised to establish gaushalas (cowsheds) in every gram panchayat if it comes to power.
