'Congress Wants Grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya': Sachin Pilot Responds to BJP Barbs

Jaipur, November 22: Facing barbs from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly attempting to delay the Supreme Court verdict in Ayodhya land dispute, senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot said his party is also a votary of a Ram Mandir at the disputed site. With the SC judgment out, the Congress is eagerly awaiting the construction of a grand temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi, he told reporters on Friday.

Pilot, who is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, said the politicisation of the sensitive matter should finally come to a halt. "Supreme Court has delivered its verdict and everyone should accept it. Politics over it should end now. Congress party wants that a grand temple should be built in Ayodhya," he said.

"They were attempting to delay the resolution of the dispute. Now, the Supreme Court has delivered a historic mandate paving the way for Ram Mandir in Ayodhya," he said.

The verdict in the Ayodhya case was pronounced on November 9 by a five-judge SC bench, headed by the outgoing Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi. The judgment allotts the possession of disputed land to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, whereas, it has asked the government to compensate the Muslim side by granting them a five-acre plot for mosque in Ayodhya region.
