New Delhi, January 4: Winning three of the major Hindi heartland states in the assembly elections held last month, the Congress is now planning to conduct a grand victory procession, marked by mega rallies to be addressed by party president Rahul Gandhi. These rallies are also expected to mark the start of Congress' campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019.

Termed as the 'Kisaan Abhaar' rallies, the first of these farner outreach programme would begin in Jaipur, where the Gandhi scion would be addressing a public meeting on Jaipur 9. The venue of the event was finalised in a meeting held between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Deputy CM Sachin Pilot on Thursday. Farm Loan Waivers Do Not Benefit Majority of Farmers, Says Narendra Modi.

Similar rallies, to thank the farmers for supporting the Congress in the recent assembly elections, will be held in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh as well. Their venue and schedule is yet to be released by the party.

An All India Congress Committee (AICC) functionary, while speaking to reporters, said the party would appeal the farmers across the nation to once again extend support to the Congress in the forthcoming general elections.

The Congress leader pointed out that governments of Ashok Gehlot, Kamal Nath and Bhupesh Baghel took less than five days to order a loan-waiver up to Rs 2 lakh.

Experts claim that the Congress will leave no stone unturned to keep the agrarian crisis as the theme for the Lok Sabha electoral contest. Only by bringing the issues of farmers, labourers and unemployed youth at the forefront, could the party counter the alleged polarisation bid of the Sangh Parivar.
