The preraks will inspire and inform people about the developments in the party and they will bust any myth surrounding Congress.

Three preraks will be appointed at a divisional level. Out of three, one will be woman, another from SC/ST/Minority/OBC background. According to reports, the idea of appointing motivators emerged during a workshop the Congress organised in the national capital. Earlier, former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had asked the party to follow Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) model to win elections.

In 2019 general elections, Congress suffered a crushing defeat and managed to win just 52 of 542 seats. Post elections, Rahul Gandhi stepped down from party president's post. The post was vacant for months. Recently, Sonia Gandhi was appointed as interim president.
“They must have a deep belief and commitment to the idea of training and must be willing to give time and energy to the process. They should have the capacity to win trust and respect from everyone and be free from groupism and respectful to the workers,” said the note, obtained by the Hindustan Times.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) has asked state units to identify the preraks and submit a list by September-end.
