Congress Second List of Candidates For Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019 Out, Prithviraj Chavan to Contest From Karnad

The Congress on Tuesday released the second list of 52 candidates or the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019. Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan will be contesting polls from Karad South constituency. The Congress is contesting the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019 in alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Mumbai, October 1: The Congress on Tuesday released the second list of 52 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019. Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan will be contesting polls from Karad South constituency. The grand old party has also given ticket to Pravin Naik from Mahim, Radhika Miling Gupte from Dombivali, Jayant Siroya from Vile Parle and Vikas Thakre from Nagpur West. Aaditya Thackeray Officially Announces His Candidature From Worli, Shiv Sena Hints He is Party's Chief Ministerial Candidate For Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019.

Other prominent names who have been given ticket include Girish Pandav from Nagpur South, Tushar Shiwale from Malegaon Rural, Shoan Ashfaque from Bhiwandi West and Yuvraj Mohite from Goregaon. The Congress on Sunday released the first list of 51 candidates. The party has fielded Ashok Chavan from Boker assembly constituency.

The Congress is contesting the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019 in alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Both the parties are contesting on 125 seats each, while the remaining 38 seats are left for other alliance partners.

Earlier in the day, the BJP also released the first list of 125 candidates. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will contest from Nagpur South West assembly constituency. The BJP nominated Pankaja Munde from Parli assembly constituency. The BJP’s alliance partner the Shiv Sena also announced the names of constituencies from where it would field its candidates.

The elections for 288-member assembly is scheduled to take place on October 21 along with Haryana. The results will be declared on the same day. Immediately after the Election Commission announced the assembly election dates, the Model Code of Conduct has immediately come into force.
