New Delhi, March 23: The Congress on Saturday released the list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. The two Northeast states are slated to go to polls on April 11, 2019. Results of the crucial legislative polls will be declared on May 23, along with the outcome of the Lok Sabha elections across the nation.

In the list for Arunachal Pradesh, the Congress has revealed its candidates from 53 of the 60 seats in the state. From Sikkim, the party has released the names of its aspirants from all 32 assembly constituencies.

The list comes two days after the BJP revealed all its candidates from Sikkim, and from 54 constituencies of Arunachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, the Sikkim Democratic Front -- the ruling party -- has revealed only its 15 candidates so far.

In Arunachal, the BJP is currently the ruling party, with 50 MLAs in the 60-member House. Pema Khandu, a former Congress leader, is the incumbent Chief Minister. In Sikkim, the government is being headed by SDF's Pawan Chamling, who is the chief minister of the state since 1994.
