New Delhi, April 6: The India National Congress on Saturday released a list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019. The list includes 5 candidates including one each from Bihar and Himachal Pradesh and three candidates from Punjab. In Himachal Pradesh, the grand old party has fielded Ram Lal Thakur from Hamirpur. In Punjab, Congress has fielded Jasbir Singh Gill from Khadoor Sahib, Dr Amar Singh from Fatehgarh Sahib (SC), Mohd Sadique from Faridkot (SC). Earlier today, rebel Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) MP Shatrughan Sinha joined Congress party. Currently, Sinha represents Patna Sahib seat and all set to take on senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad in the Lok Sabha elections. Congress general secretary K.C Venugopal welcomed the veteran actor to the party by saying that the "best politician who was earlier with the wrong party".
Patna Sahib will go into polling in the seven-phase of general polls. Meanwhile, voting in Bihar will take place in seven phases, beginning from April 11 to May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
