Congress' Proposal Accepted, BJP Rejected! We Have Decided to go With Congress, Says HD Kumaraswamy
HD Kumaraswamy said, "We have already decided to go with Congress."
Bengaluru, May 16: The Karnataka Assembly was over, results were out, still political atmosphere has not cooled down. In the latest development, Janta Dal (Secular) claimed that Bharatiya Janata Paty (BJP) has called JD(S) MLA’s. JD (S) spokesperson Saravana said, “I don't know what they (BJP) are offering but they are trying to call our people, but they are not responding. We are all together, no one can touch our party. Our party MLAs are loyal to the party.”
In spite of emerging as a single largest party, BJP failed to get full majority. Now both the BJP and the JD(S)-Congress alliance are staking a claim. The Governor of Karnataka Vajubhai Vala has a tough decision to make.
Talking to reporters BJP’s chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa said that during the legislature party meeting the leader would be elected, and then they go to Raj Bhavan immediately. The BJP will also demand time until tomorrow to prove the majority.
On the other side, JD(S) has extended its support to the Congress. The party has also quashed speculations of joining hands with the BJP. HD Kumaraswamy said, "We have already decided to go with Congress. That's the reason we called Janta Dal (Secular) Legislature Party meeting. There is no question of taking any other decision."
The Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as a single largest party with 104 seats, whereas Congress won 78 seats and Janta Dal (Secular) managed to take 37 seats, while others won three seats. The votes were polled on 222 seats out of 224. The elections were conducted on May 12.
