New Delhi, Sep 15: In the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday made several appointments comprising of the party's top brass leaders in the three crucial committees to look after election affairs related to coordination, manifesto and publicity. Gandhi has appointed former Finance Minister P Chidambaram as the Chairman of Manifesto committee while Rajeev Gowda has been appointed as the convener.

AK Antony has been appointed as the Chairman of Coordination committee while Jairam Ramesh has been appointed as the convener. Meanwhile, Gandhi has appointed Anand Sharma as the Chairman of Publicity committee and Pavan Khera as the convener.

Gearing up for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the Congress had formed three crucial committees in August. The grand old party has also formed a 19-member manifesto committee and a 13-member publicity committee for the 2019 elections. The committee also includes senior Congress leaders like P Chidambaram, GN Azad and Mallikarjun Kharge.

The 19-member Manifesto Committee also includes Salman Khurshid and Shashi Tharoor and 13 member Publicity Committee for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. According to reports, while announcing the setting up of the committees, party General Secretary Ashok Gehlot informed that with the constitution of these committees, the party will go into election mode and start the work of putting up a manifesto and draw up its strategy for publicity and coordination.
