New members would be appointed in the panels after taking inputs from the party cadres. Priyanka Gandhi Hopeful of Reviving Congress in UP Ahead of 2022 Polls.

The reboot comes days after Congress general secretary in-charge of eastern UP, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, told a gathering of party workers in Rae Bareli that she would crack the whip on the section of cadres "who did not work" in the Lok Sabha elections 2019.

Notably, the Congress shrunk from two to one constituency of UP following the general election results, as the party lost its 39-year-old bastion of Amethi.

The decision to rejig district units of the Congress was finalised by both Priyanka and Jyotiraditya Scindia, the general secretary incharge of western Uttar Pradesh.

Priyanka held an exhaustive round of talks with party leaders in Rae Bareli on June 12 to ascertain the reasons behind the party's deteriorating state in Uttar Pradesh.

On June 14, Scindia also held talks with cadres at the UP Congress headquarters in Lucknow. Following the meetings, both the leaders sent a proposal to the All India Congress Committee seeking an overhaul in Uttar Pradesh

The Congress is also appointing a three-member central panel to examine the charge of "gross indiscipline" levelled against leaders and cadres of the Congress party in UP.

Notably, the state unit president of the party, Raj Babbar, has offered to resign from his post. Insiders claim that the party is likely to appoint a new face to lead the Congress in UP.
