The recent development comes a day ahead of the scheduled visit of BJP national president Amit Shah to Lucknow.
Lucknow, April 11: In what is believed to be a major political twist, Congress MLC from Rae Bareli Dinesh Pratap Singh on Tuesday evening announced that he was quitting the party. It must be noted that Rae Bareli is the parliamentary constituency of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. The decision comes just a day ahead of the scheduled visit of BJP national president Amit Shah to Lucknow.
Few other reports inform that two Congress Legislators representing Rae Bareli are expected to join the BJP on Wednesday-one being Dinesh Pratap Singh and the other Congress’s other MLC is Deepak Singh. Dinesh, who is one of the two legislators who got elected to the Upper House in 2015 has his tenure till March 7, 2022. According to a report by TOI, Dinesh said, “I am meeting my supporters in various blocks of Rae Bareli. Any further decision would be taken soon.”
As per reports, Dinesh and his younger brother and party MLA from Harchandpur Rakesh Singh, along with their third brother Awadhesh Singh who is the Zila Panchayat chairman of Rae Bareli, are likely to join BJP here on Wednesday. It is on the same day when Party President Amit Shah would be visiting the state capital, for a day.
Earlier on Wednesday, 11 April Dinesh’s brother Avdhesh Singh issued a statement saying, “Panchavati ab Congress ki nahi Rahi (Panchavati does not belong to Congress anymore)”. As per TOI report, Panchavati happens to be the name of the house where Dinesh lives with five of his siblings.
