Congress MLAs Anand Singh & Pratap Gowda Patil Allegedly Found Captive in Bengaluru's Goldfinch Hotel
Security has been tightened outside Goldfinch Hotel in Bengaluru where the two 'missing' Congress MLAs are holed up.
Bengaluru, May 19: Ahead of the much-awaited floor test in Karnataka today, two Congress MLAs Anand Singh and Pratap Gowda Patil were allegedly found captive in Bengaluru's Goldfinch Hotel. As per details by ANI, BJP MLA G Somashekhar Reddy is with the two 'missing' Congress MLAs. Security has been tightened outside Goldfinch Hotel in Bengaluru where the two 'missing' Congress MLAs are holed up.
The Karnataka Assembly has been adjourned till 3:30 PM for lunch break and will be resumed soon after for the floor test. The incident came to light after the MLAs went missing and did not attend the oath-taking process in the state Assembly. The other MLAs took the oath under the supervision of Pro Tem speaker KG Bopaiah.
The Supreme Court on Saturday ordered a live telecast of proceedings of the floor test in which Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has to prove his majority in the Karnataka Assembly. A bench comprising justices A K Sikri, S A Bobde and Ashok Bhushan passed the order after recording the statement of Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta that there will be live telecast of the proceedings. Mehta was appearing for the BJP-led Karnataka government and Governor Vajubhai Vala.
“Though a number of prayers have been made in the application of Congress-JD(S) combine, challenging the appointment BJP MLA K G Bopaiah as pro tem speaker, it was not necessary to go into all the prayers in view of the statement made by Mehta that there will be live telecast of the proceedings,” the order said.
