Congress MLA Aditi Singh's Car Turns Turtle in Raebareli After Alleged Attack by BJP Workers

Not only Aditi Singh, Zila Panchayat members who were supposed to vote against BJP's Awadhesh Singh were also stopped from entering the city.

Raebareli, May 15: Congress MLA Aditi Singh's car met an accident after her convoy was attacked by unidentified goons on Tuesday. Aditi Singh, who was heading to her Assembly constituency Raebareli, sustained injuries as her car turned turtle following the attack. She was treated in a local hospital. The Congress legislator blamed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers for the attack.

Aditi Singh was going to Raebareli for a floor test against Awadhesh Singh, who is District Panchayat Chief. Her convoy was near Modi School in Harchandpur when the miscreants opened fire and started pelting stones. Awadhesh Singh is the brother of former Congress MLC Dinesh Pratap Singh who is contesting Lok Sabha election against UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Raebareli Lok Sabha Constituency in Uttar Pradesh: Candidates, Current MP, Voting Date and Election Results 2019.

Not only Aditi Singh, Zila Panchayat members who were supposed to vote against Awadhesh Singh were also stopped from entering the city. Since the members couldn't reach the district panchayat office, the floor test was postponed. Aditi Singh, who is known to be a close aide of Priyanka Gandhi, later sat on dharna alleging that the attack was pre-planned. ‘Mahagathbandhan’ Vote Will Go to Congress in Amethi, Rae Bareli, Says BSP Supremo Mayawati.

"The attack was done on Awadesh Singh's direction near Dinesh Singh's college. Awadesh Singh was also present," she told news agency ANI. SK Bhagat, IG, Lucknow range, said few Zila Panchayat members have gone missing since the attack took place. "Zila Panchayat members have alleged that a few members are missing. Necessary action will be taken. Force was allotted where voting was to take place. We'll take a report," he said.
