Hyderabad, November 17: The Congress on Saturday released the third list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana. The list includes names of 13 candidates for the polls scheduled to be held on December 7. The polling in Telangana will take place in a single-phase while the counting of votes will take place on  December 11. The filing of nominations for the assembly elections began on November 12 with the issuance of notification. In the 119-member Telangana assembly, the party currently has 21 MLAs. The Congress is contesting these elections in alliance with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and other parties including Communist Party of India (CPI). According to the vote sharing formula, the grand old party will contest will contest on 94 seats, while the TDP will fight on 14 seats, Telangana Jan Samithi (TJS) on eight and CPI on three. BJP has launched an aggressive campaign to increase its foothold in the southern state. The primary contest is against the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the alliance of Left, Congress and the TDP.

Till now, the Congress released two lists for the polls in the state. In the first list, the party announced the names of 65 candidates, while in the second list names of 10 candidates were released. According to data released by the Chief Electoral officer's office, the total number of voters in Telangana have gone down by nearly nine lakh to 2.73 crore for the Assembly polls. Reports inform that there would be more than 32,574 polling stations across the state.
