New Delhi, December 11: The counting of votes for assembly elections for all five states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram has begun. The Election Commission will declare results by the end of the day. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ruling in three states – MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. As per exit polls, the saffron party may face anti-incumbency in the three states. The Congress is expected to have upper hand in all the three states ruled by the BJP. Meanwhile, Exit polls predicted full majority to the Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) in Telangana, whereas in Mizoram it is likely to be a fractured mandate with Mizo National Party (MNF) may have upper hand.

1)    Madhya Pradesh: The BJP is leading in 28 seats, while the Congress has an advantage in 22 seats. Incumbent CM Shivraj Chouhan is leading from Budhni.

2)    Rajasthan: The saffron party is facing anti-incumbency in Rajasthan. The Congress is leading in 53 seats, while the BJP has upper hand in 35 seats. Incumbent CM Vasundhara Raje is leading from Jhalra Patan. Opposition leader Sachin Pilot is leading from Tonk constituency.

3)    Telangana: The TRS is leading in 20 seats. While the Congress alliance has an advantage in 10 seats. Caretaker CM K Chandrashekhar Rao contested from Gajwel constituency

4)    Chhattisgarh: As per early trends, the BJP seems to be facing 15 years of anti-incumbency in the state. The grand old party is leading on 24 seats, while the saffron party is enjoying the lead on only 18 seats.

5)    Mizoram: The ruling Congress is leading in one seat.

The voting for Chhattisgarh was held in two phases. In the first phase, the polling was conducted for 18 seats on November 12, while the remaining 72 seats went for elections on November 20. In MP and Mizoram, the polls were held on November 28, while in Rajasthan and Telangana, the elections took place on December 7.
