Besides the death of 219 children in Rajkot and Ahmedabad in December alone, over 253 infants have been reported from the civil hospital, Gujarat's largest government hospital, in past three months. This has raised alarms in the country and Gujarat regarding the state of medical care in the state. This report comes even as Ashok Gehlot led Rajasthan government is under fire as the deaths at Kota government hospital keep rising. The BJP had demanded strict action against the Rajasthan government for the infants deaths in Kota hospital but is now under scanner for infants deaths in Ahmedabad and Rajkot civil hospital.
