The Karnataka Assembly Elections have been causing a row over the ticket distribution among the parties. Those who have not received the right to contest are naturally disappointed over missing the opportunity but they have definitely found new ways to express it! Just a day ago, Congress released their list of candidates for the Karnataka elections next month. Brijesh Kalappa was hopeful of getting the ticket from the constituency of Madikeri. HS Chandra Mouli has been selected to contest from the constituency instead. But Kalappa is not deterred. A vehement supporter of the party, he is always actively involved in debates on TV shows. He has used the famous Rajesh Khanna dialogue, "Pushpa, I hate tears," to express his views on non-selection. Karnataka Elections: Congress Strikes Caste Balance, Names 52 OBCs, 42 Lingayats in 1st List of Candidates

Kalappa lamented on his Facebook account about him not receiving the ticket for the assembly elections. He wrote, "I have been denied LS 2009, 2014. RS in 2014, 16, 18 and now Assembly. I will swallow the ignominy of being ousted from the race by a Person who joined the Party in 2016, got a Legislative Council Ticket the same year, lost and the same person now bags the Assembly ticket for Madikeri." He ended his post with an emotional dialogue saying "But, those FB Friends I love and respect- don't shed tears for me. After so many disappointments, I am entitled to use Rajesh Khanna's immortal words "Pushpa, I hate tears". Kalappa also mentioned he will try for the Gram Panchayat next time.

While he has accepted what happened to him, a BJP member could not hold back his tears on missing the ticket. MLA Shashil Namoshi broke down in front of media after the party did not give him ticket for the elections. His supporters too staged protest. Some disappointed workers had resorted to vandalism by damaging the party office. They claimed the party ignored its cadres who have been working in their respective constituencies for the past five years. The Karnataka assembly polls in are scheduled on May 12, and the results will be declared on May 15.
