Chincholi, April 27: The Indian National Congress party on Saturday, April 27, released names of two candidates for Karnataka by-elections. The Congress party has named Subhash Rathod and Kusumavathi Shivalli to legislative assemblies of Chincholi and Kundgol, respectively. In the state, the major contest is between the alliance Congress-JDS and BJP.  Karnataka Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Schedule.

Bypolls for two assembly seats will be held on May 19. Chincholi seat fell vacant when Congress MLA Umesh Jadhav resigned in March 2019 and joined the BJP the same month. Jadhav was then named as the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Gulbarga against Congress’s Mallikarjun Kharge. The by-poll to Kundgol is taking place after the Congress lawmaker C S Shivalli passed away last month.

Meanwhile, the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections in the state took place in two phases. Karnataka went into the poll in the second and third phase on April 18 and April 23. A total of 28 Member of Parliament (MP) will be elected from the southern state. The major contest is between the alliance of Congress-JDS and BJP.
