Bhopal, Oct 1: 53-year-old Namdev Tyagi, also known as Computer Baba, resigned from the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet -- six months after he was accorded the ministerial rank. The self-styled godman blamed Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's "anti-religion" approach for his resignation.

Baba said his repeated pleas to Chouhan to end illegal mining at the banks of river Narmada remained unheeded. The godman also accused the Madhya Pradesh CM of not adopting a concerted action plan towards cow-protection. Computer Baba Performs 'Fire Worship' on Roof of Government Guest House in Madhya Pradesh.

"We have a system where all saints sit together and decide things. They said that I couldn't make Shivraj government do anything. I think they're right. I believe that Shivraj is opposed to the dharm and will not take any step towards safeguarding the dharm. So I resigned," Baba said.

Baba, along with four other godmen --  Narmadanand Maharaj, Hariharanand Maharaj, Bhaiyyu Maharaj and Pandit Yogendra Mahant -- were inducted into the State Cabinet on April 3.

Two among the abovementioned godman - Computer Baba and Yogendra Mahant - had threatened a statewide agitation against the BJP government before they were offered an Minister of State (MoS) rank.
