Jaipur, August 20: The Rajasthan government has imposed Section 144 in parts of Jaipur in view of "threats" to communal harmony days after communal clashes in the Pink city. Section 144, which prohibits the assembly of five or more people, holding meetings or carrying weapons, will be imposed till Agust 21, authorities said.
Section 144 has been imposed in areas under 10 police stations of Jaipur in view of attempts by anti-social elements to disturb the communal harmony, news agency ANI reported. Section 144 had been imposed in 15 areas in Jaipur last week after tensions erupted between two communities. On August 11, incidents of stone-pelting were reported during Kavaad yatra. The next day, violence broke out in Galta Gate area after several people created nuisance in the area.
Clashes also broke out in Badanpura and Rawal Ji Chauraha. More than two dozen vehicles were damaged and 10 people were injured in the violence. Internet services were also suspended following the communal unrest.
