BJP and PDP formed a coalition government in 2015 after elections threw up a hung assembly, but they were ideologically divided on several issues.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has resigned, along with other PDP ministers after BJP broke their alliance with PDP in Jammu & Kashmir. PDP has called a meeting at 4 pm today and according to an ANI report, commenting on the reason behind BJP's exit, Ahmad Mir, PDP Spokesperson said, "We can only put our heads together and discuss in the party meeting at 4 pm."
In an urgent press conference called by BJP today at 2:15 pm, the party’s general secretary Ram Madhav, stated "It has become untenable for the BJP to continue in the alliance government in the state. Congress, on the other hand, highlighted that BJP cannot shy away from responsibility. Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress has been quoted as saying, "There is no question of forming a government with PDP."
