However, the suspense seems to be far from over as the Congress has said that a meeting will take place at 12 PM on 16th December, Sunday, where the decision about the CM will be finalised. Speaking to the reporters, Chhattisgarh Congress State in-charge, PL Punia said that "a meeting will be held at 12 pm tomorrow. Then we will inform (Chief Minister candidate for Chhattisgarh). Governor has given us the time of 4:30 pm on December 17 for the oath ceremony. So what's the hurry?"

Reports of Congress president Rahul Gandhi holding hectic parleys with top party leaders Saturday to decide on the top post for Chhattisgarh did the rounds and it was expected that the Congress would announce the name of Chhattisgarh chief minister by Saturday evening. Sources said Gandhi met Chhattisgarh's four potential chief minister candidates -- T S Singh Deo, Tamradhwaj Sahu, Bhupesh Baghel and Charan Das Mahant -- at his Tughlaq Lane residence and held discussions with them. The Congress President himself shared a picture with the four leaders after meeting them. Gandhi had shared a similar picture with Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot before naming Gehlot as the chief minister of Rajasthan.
