Raipur, December 11: The results of the assembly elections 2018 held in five states will be declared today, December 11. It was the five states—Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana that went to polls. The state has 90 seats in the Legislative Assembly, out of which 46 seats were needed for a majority. For 2018, the election was held in two phases—the first for 18 seats in South Chhattisgarh on November 12 and the second was for the remaining 72 seats that were held on November 20. Although the exit polls have not been able to provide a straight analysis of who will win the state assembly elections, it saw a tough battle between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. The tenure of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly ends on January 5, 2019.

Who’s Leading and Who’s Winning in Chhattisgarh?
According to media reports, this year, Chhattisgarh registered a voter turnout of 74.17 per cent after voting was held last month. For 2018, the elections tested the popularity of BJP Chief Minister Raman Singh who has been ruling the state for the past 15 years and is contesting from Rajnandgaon constituency. Singh is facing the state Janata Congress’ Ajit Jogi who is contesting from Marwahi constituency.
