Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2018: State Has About 3,630 Voters Above 100 Years Of Age

Amid the ongoing controversy over the EVM, Sahoo added that all EVMs will be connected to VVPAT (Voter-verifiable paper audit trail) machines.

Raipur, June 28: With state election in Chhattisgarh which is due by year-end, Chief Electoral Officer Subrat Sahoo has informed that Chhattisgarh has 3,630 voters who are above 100 years of age. While addressing a press conference about the revision of electoral rolls, the Chief Electoral Officer told reporters told the media persons that final publication of voters’ list will be on September 27.

CEO Sahoo also said that number of total voters in the state has been put at 1,81,52,143 out of which male voters are 9116000. Sahoo went on to add that political parties appointing booth level agents will be governed by a different set of rules.

At present, Chhattisgarh is under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with Raman Singh as the Chief Minister of the state. It must be noted that in Chhattisgarh, the two major parties which made serious constructive efforts to cater to this legitimate demand are the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to a PTI report, the second special revision of electoral rolls will start from July 31 and continue till August 21. The report further informs that claims and objections about names will be received during this period and disposed of by September 20.

The Chief Electoral Officer informed that the third-generation electronic voting machines of M-3 series, which are the most advanced EVMs, will be used in Chhattisgarh polls. Amid the ongoing controversy over the EVM, Sahoo added that all EVMs will be connected to VVPAT (Voter-verifiable paper audit trail) machines.

Chhattisgarh among the most Maoist-affected states in the country where large-scale violence has claimed many lives during the last ten years. About 18 out of the 27 districts in the state are Maoist affected.
