An important guideline issued by the Election Commission of India (EC) states that news channels cannot publish or show the results of the exit polls before 5.30 pm. This rule has been put in place as voting at some of the centres are extended beyond the stipulated time to accommodate the voters. The Election Commission (EC) had announced polling in the state of Chhattisgarh in two phases. The first phase of voting took place for the 18 Maoist violence hit seats on November 12 and the remaining 72 seats went to polls on November 20, 2018 for the 90 seat assembly of Chhattisgarh.
The combined percentage of voting recorded in both the phases of Chhattisgarh assembly elections was 76.35 per cent for the 90-member state assembly.
