Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2018 ABP News Opinion Poll Results: Congress Predicted to Win State With Paper-Thin Majority
In the 90-member Chhattisgarh assembly, the opinion poll predicts a thin majority for the Congress.
The Election Commission announced the dates for the 2018 assembly election in the state of Chhattisgarh. The state of Chhattisgarh will have polling in two phases. The voting for Chhattisgarh polls will take place in Southern Chhattisgarh seats, known as LWD areas on November 12 and the remaining Chhattisgarh will have polls on November 20. The counting of votes will take place on December 11, 2018 when the results will be declared. Meanwhile, an ABP pre-poll survey, has given the Congress a solid edge moving into the assembly elections of not only Chhattisgarh, but also Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. In the 90-member Chhattisgarh assembly, the opinion poll predicts a thin majority for the Congress. The grand-old party will win 47 seats, claims the survey, further adding that the incumbent BJP, led by Raman Singh, will be reduced to 40 constituencies. Others, including the alliance between Ajit Jogi's party and Mayawati's BSP, may win 3 assembly segments. In the 2013 assembly elections, the BJP had won 49 seats and the Congress was victorious on 39 seats respectively, out of the 100 seats in the state. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and an independent candidate won the remaining two seats. Raman Singh, the present chief minister of Chhattisgarh, registered a hat-trick as the Chief Minister of the state after the 2013 election victory.
