Mumbai, August 28: Maharashtra PWD Minister Chandrakant Patil is under fire from the Opposition for changing the deadline for fixing potholes on Mumbai roads and other parts of the state for the third time in three years. Interestingly, the date remains the same - December 15. In 2016, Patil had even promised to give Rs 1,000 to every person spotting a pothole on Mumbai roads after December 15, 2016.
Opposition leader Dhananjay Munde has now taken on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena alliance in power in the state. Munde tweeted last week saying whoever spots a pothole should instead send Rs 1,000 to Sena leader Aditya Thackeray.
Patil had promised to fix Mumbai roads by December 15, 2016 and had said that whoever sends him a picture of a pothole on the road will get Rs 1,000 from him. With that deadline not met, he promised the same in 2017 sans the Rs 1,000 promise.

Now in 2018, he has once again announced a December 15, 2018 deadline for completely fixing roads, making them pothole-free. An image carrying his three promises is going viral on WhatsApp.
Here's the image going viral
This comes after┬аGurunath Waman Lasne, vice-president of Thane district's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit, died after his car was hit by a speeding private bus near Saravali village in Bhiwandi. According to an ANI report, the driver of the bus is absconding. The Kongaon police said the accident was caused because the bus hit one of the many potholes on the road and collided with the car.
