New Delhi, November 1: To counter the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the coming Lok Sabha elections which are scheduled for next year, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu met Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah in New Delhi on Thursday. As per reports, the Andhra Pradesh chief minister will also meet Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
Naidu also met Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Both the leaders discussed the need to bring all non-BJP political parties together. This is his second visit to New Delhi in less than a week. Naidu had met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Sharad Yadav in Delhi a few days before and heavily criticised the BJP led Centre, blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the crisis in the CBI. Last week, Naidu had said that "political compulsions" will force non-BJP parties to come together to form a third front against the BJP.
Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday, October 30, urged Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to form a united front along with the Congress. The TDP snapped ties with the ruling BJP at Centre in March. The TDP, which has been ruling Andhra since 2014, had appealed the ruling BJP to accord 'special category status' to the state -- a demand which the Centre failed to adhere to in the past 5 years.
