Counting of votes for 230 seats of Madhya Pradesh assembly, including Chandla, Rajnagar, Chhatarpur, Bijawar, Malhara and Pathariya, has begun.

Bhopal, December 11: The elections results of 230 seats of Madhya Pradesh assembly, including Chandla, Rajnagar, Chhatarpur, Bijawar, Malhara and Pathariya, will be declared today. Counting of votes of the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls results 2018 will begin at 8 am. Stay are high for the BJP, which is seeking a fourth consecutive term in the state. The BJP, which had won Chandla assembly seat in 2013, fielded Rajesh Kumar Prajapati this time. Prajapati faces a challenge from Congress candidate Hariprasad Anuragi. In Rajnagar, the Congress fielded its incumbent MLA Vikram Singh Natiraja against BJP's Arvind Pateriya. In Chhatarpur, the BJP denied ticket to its sitting legislator Lalita Yadav and nominated Archana Singh. The Congress fielded Alok Chaturvedi from the seat.

In Bijawar, the BJP fielded incumbent MLA Pushpendra Nath Pathak against Congress candidate Shankar Pratap Singh Bundela. On the Malhara assembly seat, however, the saffron party nominated a new face - Lalita Yadav - instead of its incumbent legislator Ahir Rekha Yadav. Congress fielded Pradyuman Singh Lodhi from the seat. In Pathariya, BJP declared MLA Lakhan Patel as its candidate against Congress's Gourav Patel.

Ahead of the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections results,  a majority of exit polls last week predicted a victory for the Congress. The grand old party has been out of power in the state since last 15 years. In the 2013 assembly polls, the BJP won 165 seats, the Congress 58, BSP four and Independents won three seats.
