New Delhi, January 20: Chandra Kumar Bose, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice President for West Bengal and grand-nephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, on Monday asked his party leadership to modify the Citizenship Amendment Act. Asserting that a law cannot be forced upon citizens, Chandra Kumar Bose said: "Just because we have numbers today, we cannot do terror politics." The remark came in the backdrop of threatening comments by BJP state chief Dilip Ghosh. Why Not Include Muslims: BJP's CK Bose Raises Questions on CAA.

Bose said that the Citizenship Amendment Act should focus on persecuted minorities, not on select communities. "I have suggested to my party leadership that with a little modification the entire opposition campaign will fizzle out. We need to specifically state that it is meant for persecuted minorities, we should not mention any religion. Our approach should be different," he told news agency ANI, adding that laws cannot be imposed forcefully on citizens. Subhash Chandra Bose’s Grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose Compares Jawaharlal Nehru With Hitler.

Bose apparently rebuked Dilip Ghosh by saying abusive language cannot be used to explain the Citizenship Amendment Act. "Our job is to explain to people that we are right and they are wrong. You cannot be abusive. Just because we have numbers today we cannot do terror politics. Let us go to people explaining the benefits of CAA," he said. Ghosh has made a number of derogatory and threatening remarks against anti-CAA protesters.

Earlier, Bose had demanded transparency in the Citizenship Amendment Act, saying if it was not related to any religion, then Muslims should also be included. "If CAA, 2019 is not related to any religion why are we stating - Hindu, Sikh, Buddhists, Christians, Parsis and Jains only! Why not include Muslims as well? Let's be transparent," he had tweeted.
