Lucknow, December 21: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Friday attacked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government for deteriorating law and order situation in the state. She was commenting on the delay over identifying the killers of inspector Subodh Kumar Singh who lost a life during Bulandshahr mob violence on December 3.
Addressing a press conference in the state capital, the BSP chief said, “It seems as if law and order in Uttar Pradesh has crumbled totally.” Adding on, she also highlighted the soaring graph of crime against women in the state. Referring to the recent case of Dalit girl who was set ablaze in Agra and rape of an engineering student, she said that criminal and anti-social elements were striking in the state. Earlier on Tuesday, a class X Dalit girl was set ablaze by two motorcycle-borne men while returning from school in Agra. She succumbed to injuries at Safdarjung hospital in Delhi on Thursday. Also, a gruesome incident of gang-rape of an engineering student took place in Agra on Wednesday, while she was going to a coaching centre.
Expressing her dismay, Mayawati said, “The people of Uttar Pradesh are wondering if any such thing called ‘governance’ or ‘police system’ exist in UP or not.”
On the alleged delay of justice and law and order failure in the Bulandshahr mob violence, the BSP chief said, “They have neither been able to identify the killers of the slain police officer nor have they arrested the main accused. This shows their supine approach to the case and establishes Yogi government’s utter failure in handling law and order.”
