Kollegal, July 23: N Mahesh, the lone Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA, in the Karnataka Assembly was missing from the Vidhana Soudha despite orders from BSP Chief Mayawati to support HD Kumaraswamy government. Citing it as an act of indiscipline, the party has expelled him with immediate effect. On Tuesday, JDS-Congress coalition government fell as HD Kumaraswamy lost trust vote by seven votes. In a tweet, Mayawati said, "Despite directions from party high command to vote in favour of HD Kumaraswamy, BSP MLA N Mahesh didn't attend the trust vote & violated directions, which is an act of indiscipline. The Kollegal MLA N Mahesh was formerly in the Kumaraswamy cabinet but resigned in 2018 following a disagreement between BSP and Congress concerning seat sharing in last year's Madhya Pradesh Elections. Meanwhile, Kumaraswamy's resignation has been accepted by Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala. In the trust vote, the Congress-JDS coalition received 99 votes while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got 105 votes. According to reports, State BJP Chief BS Yeddyurappa is likely to be the next chief minister of the state.
