Opinion polls in run-up to the upcoming assembly elections have given the edge to the incumbent BJP regime led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. An ABP News-CVoter opinion poll has predicted the party to win up to 78 out of the 90 constituencies in the fray.
Notably, the BJP had formed its first-ever government in the state in 2014 after surging past the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the Congress. Khattar, considered a lightweight in Haryana politics vis-a-vis the then chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and former CM OM Prakash Chautala, ended up emerging at the helm of the state government.
