Mumbai, May 16: One of the controversial faces in Karnataka state government and the one alleged to be tainted by the Congress party, legislator BS Yeddyurappa has been elected as the legislative party leader of BJP in Karnataka on Wednesday. As the elected the leader of MLAs, he has officially met governor Vajubhai Vala to stake claim to form the government in the state, in a bid to keep the Congress out of power in the state. While the governor has ensured that he will take the right decision, the BJP Party sources claimed that Yeddyurappa would become the CM and is likely to sworn in tomorrow.

In the recently-held Karnataka assembly elections whose results were proclaimed yesterday, the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 103 candidates. But since no party managed to get a full majority, political turmoil ensued in the state regarding who will come to power in Karnataka, one of the largest states of India. The state sends around 20 MPs and more to Lok Sabha alone. On the other end, Congress with 70 seats is also trying hard to form the government. It has already extended full support to JD(S) who has 42 legislators, which can help them to achieve the majority taking the tally to 112. The coalition will help form government in Karnataka.

BS Yeddyurappa one of the controversial faces in entire Indian politics was also the former CM of Karnataka. However, he has to resign after his name allegedly appeared in the anti-corruption report of 2011 and indicted him in a $3bn mining scandal. He could not finish his five-year tenure and in same period a major political uproar was observed in the state.
