Why Boxanagar and Dhanpur By-Election 2023 Were Necessitated:

The bypolls for the Boxanagar and Dhanpur, two seats of the Tripura Assembly, were necessitated after the seats fell vacant following the death of sitting MLA Samsul Haque and the resignation of Pratima Bhoumik. The by-election in the Dhanpur assembly seat was announced following the resignation of Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik from the assembly. Her resignation came days after she was elected from the seat as BJP nominee in the February 16 Assembly elections.

On the other hand, the Muslim-dominated Boxanagar assembly seat fell vacant after the death of sitting CPI-M MLA Samsul Haque. Haque passed away on July 19 after a cardiac attack. BJP’s Victory in Bypolls Inevitable, Says Tripura CM.
