'BJP Will Form Government in Haryana', Says Manohar Lal Khattar After All Independent Candidates Extend Support

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will stake claim to form government in Haryana after the state witnessed fractured mandate in the assembly elections 2019. Manohar Lal Khattar talking to media said that he is optimistic and will form the government.

New Delhi, October 25: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will stake claim to form government in Haryana after the state witnessed a fractured mandate in the assembly elections 2019. Manohar Lal Khattar, talking to the media said that he is optimistic and will form the government. Meanwhile, seven independent MLAs including Sombir Sanghwan and Randhir Golan have extended support to the BJP. Gopal Kanda of Haryana Lokhit Party also supported the BJP. President Subhash Barala confirmed to news agency ANI that Independent candidates have come with BJP and expressed confidence that a government will be formed under the leadership of incumbent Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Reacting to reports of Independent supporting the BJP, Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda said that Independent MLAs who are going to be a part of the Khattar government are digging their own political grave. In the recently concluded assembly elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 40 seats, however, falling short of a majority by six seats. Meanwhile, the Congress doubled its tally to 31 as compared to 2014. Newly-formed Jannayak Janata Party won 10 seats. In the last assembly elections, the grand old party had won only 15 seats. The elections for the 90-member Haryana assembly took place on October 21, and the results were declared on Thursday.
