BJP to Hold Compulsory Abhyas Varga For MPs in Order to Instill Discipline, PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to Brief Lawmakers

New Delhi, August 3: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is organizing a two-day workshop or orientation programme with a focus on familiarizing first time law-makers and BJP MPs about discipline issues and their role in the Parliament. Attendance at the weekend sessions for the orientation programme called the “Abhyas Varga” is compulsory, said reports. The workshop will begin at 10 AM on Saturday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP Working President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will also attend the event and share their thoughts with the party MPs. The Abhyas Varga is already conducted in several states like Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. The closed door session aims at educating the MPs on conduct expected of them and to reign in lawmakers known for their comments that cause embarrassment to the party.

Attendance is one of the major issues that will be discussed and emphasized on in the meeting. A senior BJP leader was quoted saying by NDTV that the session is especially for the first-time MPs and those who have joined the BJP from other parties in recent times. The objective of the session will be to educate and impress upon the MPs the importance of ideological commitment, punctuality and attendance.
