New Delhi, June 4: After the Bhartiya Janata Party's (BJP) spokesperson Sambit Patra likened the opposition alliance to terrorist and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed and Union Minister Giriraj Singh, who is often in news for his controversial remarks, tweeted that "Maoists, casteist, feudalist and Osama supporters are all standing against the nationalist coalition (NDA)", the opposition has taken strong objection to the language of both the BJP leaders and have called the remarks unparliamentary.

Following the BJP leaders comments, the leaders of parties like Congress, Samajwadi Party and the BSP have called the comments "unparliamentary." However, after the comment, Sambit Patra offered an explanation on his remark clarifying that it (his comment) was not a comparison:

Giriraj Singh however offered no explanation despite his comment coming under heavy criticism. He tweeted saying that "Maoists, casteists, feudalists and supporters of Osama's (Bin Laden) philosophy have all gathered against the NDA. But in the ever flowing stream of development, the NDA's boat will reach towards victory and cross the winning mark."

The opposition coalition has been under the attack of BJP leaders from the day since the Samajwadi Party and BSP decided to shake hands for the Gorakhpur and Phulphur Lok Sabha by-elections. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had then said that the SP-BSP partnership looks like the alliance of "snakes and mangoose". The comment had received flak and the BJP lost both the seats in the bypoll.
