Mumbai, September 30: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena and other allies including Ramdas Athawale 's Republican Party of India - RPI (A) have officially announced their alliance ahead of the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly Elections. However, the seat-sharing deal is yet to be announced. Reports say that the deal can be announced anytime soon. The voting for all the 288 seats of Maharashtra assembly will take place on October 21. The results of the elections will be held on Ocober 24. The Election Commission of India (EC) announced the date for the assembly elections in the state of Maharashtra and Haryana on September 21. The Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held for 288 assembly seats, and the last date for nomination process is October 4. The model code of conduct has come into force on September 21 evening and will remain in force even after the polling on October 21 till the entire process of counting is completed on October 24.
The entire election process will be completed by October 27. The term of the current Maharashtra assembly will end on November 9. The information was provided by the Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora. Out of the total 288 seats in the Maharashtra assembly, 29 seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes. For the Scheduled Tribes, 25 seats have been reserved.
The total number of registered voters for Maharashtra assembly polls are 8,95,62,706, reported the Times of India. There are a total of 1.8 lakh balloting units. The number of VVPATs which will be used in the state are 1.39 lakh. In the previous assembly elections in the state of Maharashtra in 2014, the BJP won 122 seats. The Shiv Sena had to be contended with 63 seats. The Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) emerged victotious on 42 and 41 seats respectively.
