Patna, April 25: Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha, an ally of the Congress-RJD-led Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, used a cryptic and controversial analogy while targeting his erstwhile coalition partner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). While addressing a gathering in Bihar's Darbhanga, Kushwaha called the BJP "onstage Sita" and "backstage smoker".

Kushwaha told his cadres and supporters that the BJP had a duel face, which he was able to identify after joining the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). While the party appears clean before the media, it indulges in all "corrupt" practices behind the scenes, the former Union Minister alleged. Upendra Kushwaha, RLSP Chief, to Contest From Bihar's Karakat and Ujiarpur Seats.

"People of this area are fond of Ram Leela and they will know. During Ram Leela, when the person who plays Sita ji comes on the stage, everyone bows with respect. But if you went backstage and pulled up the curtain, you would see the same Sita ji is having a cigarette. This is the face of the BJP," Kushwaha said.

"It's all corrupt inside...but outside it takes the form of a god. They put the godly face in front people but I have seen the face with the cigarette when I was in the NDA," Kushwaha added.

The RLSP chief served as a Union Minister of State for Human Resources and Development since 2014, when Modi came to power, till January this year when he walked out of the NDA fold. While the denial of 3 constituencies to contest in Bihar was the trigger for Kushwaha to jumpship, he had also cited high-handedness by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the reason for his decision to leave. "You have systematically dismantled the functioning of the Cabinet that is mandated in the Constitution," he said in his resignation letter.
