New Delhi, March 7: The official website of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) www.bjp.org, continued to be down for the third day on Thursday, two days after it was reportedly hacked. The BJP website has been down with a 'site maintenance' message appearing on its home page since Tuesday. There has been no word from the BJP yet as to when the website will be up and running. On Tuesday, when people tried to log on to www.bjp.org, they got an error 522 message. The message on the site's homepage now says, "We’ll be back soon! Sorry for the inconvenience but we’re performing some maintenance at the moment. we’ll be back online shortly!"
According to some social media users, the site's home page was also showing some abusive words earlier on Tuesday. In no time, social media users circulated messages saying the BJP website was hacked. The homepage also carried a video mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Congress on Wednesday took a dig at the BJP on Twitter and "offered to help". The official Twitter handle of the Congress party tweeted, "Morning BJP, we realise you’ve been down for a long time now. If you need help getting back up, we’re happy to help."
The alleged hacking of the BJP website comes days after there were reports that Pakistan cyber hackers tried to attack more than 90 Indian websites post the February 14 Pulwama terror attack in which40 CRPF jawans were martyred, but failed to do so.
