New Delhi, April 23: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released its 26th list of candidates for Chandigarh and Punjab. The BJP has announced three candidates. The party has fielded Veteran actress Kirron Kher from Chandigarh parliamentary constituency in Chandigarh. In Punjab, Bollywood actor Sunny Deol is contesting from Gurdaspur while Som Prakash is fielded from Hoshiarpur seat, which is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC). Jawed Habib, Noted Hair-Stylist, Joins BJP Amid Lok Sabha Elections 2019; Takes Chowkidar Pledge.

Actor Sunny Deol, known for the all-time favourite role in Gadar, joined the BJP on Tuesday, days after he met the party president Amit Shah in Pune. "Like my father joined Atal Bihari Vajpayee, I have decided to join Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I want PM Modi for the next five years," said the actor after joining the saffron party. The Ghayal actor was welcomed by Union Ministers- Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal.

BJP 26th List:

The actor-turned-politician Kirron Kher in 2014 general elections defeated Congress' Pawan Kumar Bansal by securing 42.20% vote share, making her entry to Lok Sabha, the lower house of Indian Parliament. In Hoshiarpur, the BJP has replaced its sitting MP Vijay Sampla and gave LS ticket to Som Prakash, a former IAS officer. Prakash is fielded against Congress candidate Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal.

Meanwhile, Chandigarh constituency will go into the poll in the seventh-phase of 2019 general elections. The elections in Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur will also take place on May 19. The counting of votes and announcement of results are on May 23.
