BJP MP Devajibhai Govindbhai Fatepara calls Rahul Gandhi ‘Pappu’, Flees From Election Campaign After Public Outrage
BJP parliamentarian from Gujarat Devajibhai Govindbhai Fatepara has to face public outrage after he called Rahul Gandhi ‘Pappu’.
Jaipur, December 3: Bharatiya Janata Party had been referring Congress president Rahul Gandhi as ‘Pappu’ for a long time. But referring Gandhi as ‘Pappu’ during an election rally in in Banswara of Rajasthan by BJP MP Devajibhai Govindbhai Fatepara led him to ran from the place, when Congress Councillor Sita Damor confronted him for his statement.
The incident took place in Banswara, where the BJP lawmaker arrived to campaign for the party candidate Hakru Maida in the upcoming Assembly elections. Soon after his address, Damor reached the spot and asked the BJP candidate to do the maintenance work of potholes, and in reply, Devajibhai said, ‘Pappu ko bulao,pappu gaddhe bharega (Call Pappu, he will fill the potholes).” Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018: Key Candidates to Watch Out For
The above comment made the Congress leader furious, and she created a ruckus along with her supporters. Citing controversy, Devajibhai – BJP MP from Surendranagar seat in Gujarat – apologised for his comment and left the place in a hurry.
But the anger of the Congress supporters did not end there. They reached to local BJP office and sought an apology again. After apologising, the BJP parliamentarian had to leave for Gujarat immediately.
The Assembly elections in Rajasthan for 200 seats will take place on December 7, and the results will be announced on December 11.
