Mumbai, Sep 4: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA was caught on camera offering youths to 'kidnap' girls whom they would like for marriage. Ram Kadam made the controversial remark at a 'dahi handi' event in his suburban Ghatkopar assembly constituency in Mumbai on Monday night. He went on to say that he would help youngsters if the girls they like reject their marriage proposal.
“You (youngsters) can meet me for any work,” Kadam was heard in a video clip. “I will help, 100 per cent. Come (to me) with your parents. What will I do if parents disapprove? I will kidnap the girl concerned and hand her over to you (for marriage),” the BJP MLA is heard telling the crowd. He also shared his phone number at the event.
On being questioned on the controversial statement, Kadam said that his comments had been distorted. However, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) strongly objected to Kadam's statement and said that the comments brought to the fore the “Ravana-like” face of the ruling party, reported news agency PTI.

“What Kadam said has revealed the Ravana-like face of the BJP. Kadam said he would abduct a girl for a boy. Therefore, he should be called as ‘Ravana’ Kadam,” Maharashtra NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik was quoted as saying.
