Jaipur, November 11: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday released its first list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan. Union Minister JP Nadda on Sunday announced the list of 131 candidates for the upcoming polls in the state that are due in December. The Minister informed that out of the 131 candidates, 12 are female candidates, 32 are young candidates, 17 are from SC category and 19 candidates from ST category. Nadda added saying that there are 85 sitting MLAs and 25 new faces in the list.
Polling across 200 seats in the state will be held in a single phase on December 7. The counting of votes will be done on December 11. The process for filing nomination papers for the Rajasthan assembly election will begin from Monday. According to reports, the nomination papers will be filed from 11 am to 3 PM. The tenure of the 200-seat Rajasthan Assembly will end on January 20, 2019. The state is currently under the leadership of incumbent Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who is from the Bharatiya Janata Party. An opinion poll by C-Voter has projected a thumping majority for the Congress with 145 seats in Rajasthan and a simple majority in Madhya Pradesh. According to a PTI report, the survey in Rajasthan gave the ruling BJP only 45 seats with 39.7 per cent vote share, against 47.9 per cent of the opposition Congress.
