Bhopal, November 2: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released the list of 177 candidates for upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will again contest from Budhni, while state ministers Narottam Mishra and Yashodhara Raje Scindia will contest from Datia and Shivpuri respectively. In the previous assembly elections, Chouhan had contested from two seats – Budhini and Vidisha. The term of the 230-seat Madhya Pradesh Assembly will end on January 7, 2019. View full list here:

There will be a battle between the Congress and the ruling BJP in the elections. Chouhan is looking at a fourth term in the state. The Congress has not yet announced the CM candidate for the elections. Kamal Nath or Jyotiraditya Scindia is likely to be the CM face for Congres in the elections. The Bahujan Samaj Party and Aam Aadmi Party have also decided to contest all 230 seats in the state.

In the last elections, the BJP ended up winning 165 constituencies -- up 22 seats from its previous tally. The party secured a vote share of 44.8 per cent. The assembly elections will be conducted on November 28 along with Mizoram. Apart from These two states – Rajasthan, Telangana and Chhattisgarh are also undergoing assembly elections this year. Voting for the first phase of Chhattisgarh elections will be held on November 12 in 18 districts and in Northern Chhattisgarh, it will be held on November 20. In Rajasthan and Telangana, it will be held on December 7. Meanwhile, counting of votes for all the states will be done on December 11.
