Ranchi, December 18: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and chief ministerial candidate of the Opposition alliance, Hemant Soren, launched a stinging attack against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. While campaigning for the final phase of assembly elections in Jharkhand's Pukar, Soren alleged that he has been informed about a "chakkar" or illicit affair of the UP CM. Soren's remarks against Yogi came amid his tirade against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the issue of women security. Apparently referring to the conviction of expelled UP BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in a sexual assault case, the JMM leader alleged that several among the "saffron-clad" politicians have outraged the modesty of women and girls.
"Daughters and daughter-in-law are being burnt in the nation...I've heard that UP CM Yogi ji also has a "chakkar" despite wearing saffron. These BJP people do not marry but they wear saffron and outrage modesty of our daughters," he said while addressing a rally in Pukar.

Before Soren, the gathering was addressed by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Shed described the ongoing poll battle in Jharkhand as an election to save the "land, mother and existence" of Jharkhand.
The Congress, JMM and Rashtriya Janata Dal are contesting the polls in Jharkhand under a pre-election pact. The coalition has emerged as the prime challenger to the ruling BJP, which moved into the elections under the leadership of incumbent Chief Minister Raghubar Das. Results of the 81-seat assembly elections will be declared on December 23.
