Kanpur, April 29: Political arrogance was on a display during the fourth of the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur on Monday. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suresh Awasthi was caught on camera threatening a Circle Officer, Janardhan Dubey after an argument over a polling agent. "I will see you tomorrow, you are on my hit list," Awasthi is seen saying in the video. Kanpur mayor Pramila Pandey was also present there. The entire incident was recorded on the camera, and the video is doing rounds on social media. A case has been registered against Awasthi. According to reports, the incident took place during the voting at primary school under Gwaltoli police station. The Circle Officer allegedly snatched a voter list from the BJP polling agent. Awasthi contested assembly elections in UP in 2017 on the BJP ticket from Sisamau assembly seat. However, he had lost the elections. In 2019 parliamentary polls, Satyadev Pachuri is contesting from Kanpur against Congress' Prakash Jaiswal and Samajwadi Party's Ram Kumar. Meanwhile, the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections took place on Monday in 13 parliamentary constituencies in UP including Kanpur. A total of 57.38 percent voter turnout was recorded in the state. The important contests from these seats were Kannauj, from where Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav was in the fray. The other high profile battle was BJP's Sakshi Maharaj, who contested from Unnao Lok Sabha constituency. The general elections in the state are taking place in seven phases. The results will be declared on May 23.
